Nishmi (Brazil, 1994) lives and works in Berlin. Exploring themes of time, memory, and destruction, their work investigates cultural dynamics and states of impermanence. Their practice moves between personal experience and the collective unconscious, within a research-based approach attentive to structures, units, and moments of capture.
Through video and sound installations, performance, and print, the work often approaches endings, loss, and repetition as a threshold. It offers a critical reflection on the normalization of bodies and regimes of productivity, observing and subtly satirizing norms that are taken for granted. These include homogeneous narratives replicated over time and experiments in how perception is shaped through temporal and physical scales. The practice operates from within these structures, exposing their quiet violence and contradictions.
