The term "retrograde" in astrology means the backward movement of a particular planet in relation to the earth. It means that the planet can’t fully express its energy. Mercury is the messenger, ruler of communication, technology, contracts - but when it is in retrograde, often one under its influence can expect delays, miscommunication, mental confusion, and breakdowns.
