Dynamics of Narrative Appropriation (2021)
[16min]
The video essay explores narrative appropriation as a “form of mutation” through authorial text, narration, original and found footage. Analyzising different forms of power and territory dynamics, collective unconscious, and hegemonic narratives, the work critically examines gender issues, and the representation of love in Greek mythology and audiovisual works. Examples include the appropriation of scientific concepts, military symbols, and a student riot in Delhi that appropriates a sexist Bollywood song.
